Great way to see the Galapagos
“I really enjoyed my time on the Galapagos Islands. This is a great way to travel there because you are able to spend time with the people instead of a cruise where you only get to visit for one day, but a combination of both would be ideal as then you would get to see more islands. Everyone was so nice and friendly, the food was excellent. The islands are very safe, there was never any problem walking around by myself, even at night.”

Volunteering with Underpriviledged Children
“The best part of the day is just playing with the children. They love to cuddle and dance. If you go in with an open mind you'll have a great time!”

Galapagos Experience
I thouroughly enjoyed my trip to the Galapagos Islands! It is such an amazing and unique place, but this is also why many species are endagered. I was especially pleased that I was able to learn so much and actually participate in conservation projects. I have always wanted to visit the Galapagos but couldn´t justify being a tourist without helping this delicate habitat. Lead-adventures provided the perfect opportunity for me to visit four different islands, see so many interesting species and also help out with conservation work! Although the work was physically demanding, some of my best memories on the trip were during the project days. I met so many people from all over, and their stories were intriguing and inspiring. I hope to continue conservation work in the future.
In addition to the work, the organised trips were amazing. I know I couldn´t have planned some of the adventures we had participated in and I´m so grateful that Lead-adventures was so good at providing scheduled activities, along with meals and transportation.
Lastly, I much preferred our housing to a hotel. Living in less that 5 star accommodations allowed me to better appreciate the islands, and become more integrated in the culture.

Yanacocha Animal Rescue Centre
For me, Yana Cocha was not about the weekend trips, but the joy in the work itself. Feeding animals, cleaning after them, and the habitat maintenance work gave me the privilege of having many unforgettable experiences. I´ve seen and experienced things, many breathtaking moments that could never be captured well onto a camera. I got the chance to work with animals that I have seen in documentaries, some that I have never seen before at all, and some whose common names that i do not know in English. I witnessed a sloth being released into the wild. I got to catch and feed live grasshoppers to monkeys the size of my hand. And of course, the people I stayed with from many different parts of the world added significant value to my experiences in Yana Cocha: veterinarians with a very strong passion for their work, other friendly volunteers who enlightened me about other customs and cultures, and a very hospitable host family who accomodated all of us. From playing with monkeys, to the simple pleasures of riding in the back of a pick up truck while watching the sunset, to putting the best aji (chilli sauce) that I have ever tasted on everything edible, it was amazing! I am glad that I was given this opportunity to contribute to a center that helps animals in their time of need and prepares them to live on their own in the wild again. I now only felt an engagement with nature, but also a sense of community with everyone I worked with. Overall, my experiences at Yana Cocha and with Lead-adventures have been truly captivating!
