Program is open all year round.

Duration of Program: Two-weeks minimum and maximum of 12 weeks.

This is an opportunity to take the learning outside of the classsroom and into the real world. Get involved in community service while seeing the sites of Ecuador. Experience another country while also contributing meaningfully to its society and environment. Lead Adventures offers several different excursions all throughout Ecuador to learn about biodiversity, environmental conservation, social causes, organic agriculture, animal welfare, and community building.

Customize your trip! These are a few examples of the places you can visit:

* Baños.  This city is located in the northern foothills of the Tungurahua volcano. It is named after the hydrothermal springs of mineral water located around the city. Baños is full of adventure activities, including the Manto de la Virgen waterfall, horseback riding in the hills around the town, walking, hiking or climbing the surrounding trails of the volcano, mountain biking the breathtaking scenic road to Puyo or rafting on one of the nearby rivers.

* Visit the Galapagos Islands and Island Hop! Start at Espanola Island and enjoy the incredible natural wonders, from the immense blowhole to the thousands of nesting blue-footed boobies and the world's largest waved albatross colony. Continue to Floreana Island and see the flamingos. Enjoy Black Tortuga Bay on Santa Cruz and marvel at the mangrove maze which is chock-full of sharks, rays and sea turtles. 

* In Quito: The Teleferico takes visitors to the top of the Volcano Pichincha. It is worth putting aside a few hours for the trip, and day or nighttime is equally interesting. The cable cars will take you up to almost 14,000 feet and the views are stunning.

Your volunteer responsibilities will depend on the program your group will be part of; you choose the location and the type of work! Itineraries range anywhere from 10 to 18 days but can also be customized depending on the needs of the group. Ecuador is a beautiful country with a wide range of biological and cultural diversity. Explore the volcanoes of the Andes, discover the jungle world of the Amazon, enjoy the wonderful natural resources along the Ecuadorian Coast and be amazed by the wildlife and pristine environment of the Galapagos Islands. Whatever you want to learn and experience, Ecuador has it all!
