The Galapagos: a place for couples?

Recent graduate from the UK, 23 year old Paul Johnson, is currently travelling South America with his girlfriend of three years. Next stop on his list is the Galapagos Islands, and we asked him a few questions about what he expects island hopping with his significant other will be like:

What makes the Galapagos Islands a desirable destination for you?

I know it will be a place offering the chance to see wildlife that you just can´t see anywhere else. I´m into photography and have seen loads of footage taken in the Galapagos, so I  really want to check out the stunning scenery for myself.

What made you decide to travel to the Galapagos Islands with your girlfriend?

We always knew we wanted to go travelling together, and the island appealed to me as part of a couple because it is so contrasting in ways – there is so much to see and do, but it can also be a peaceful and romantic place. So in the Galapagos I know we will never be bored! We can go exploring in the wilderness one day, and take it easy and relax on the beach the next.

What are your preconceptions of the Galapagos Islands?

I think the Galápagos Islands will be full of wildlife, like fish and birds I have never seen before. I hope it will have unrivalled views, and beaches that are like paradise!

Are there any concerns or questions you may have regarding how The Galapagos caters for couples?

I am interested to see whether the overall feel of the island is more of parties and nightlife or if it will be as peaceful as I think.

And what activities are you most looking forward to doing with your partner in the Galapagos?

I am so excited for us to both go both snorkelling and diving with the array of wildlife, I love everything to do with the sea, and i´m sure it will be an unforgettable experience.

Keep on the lookout for how Paul´s couple experience in the Galapagos goes – are the Islands really a couples haven? We´ll be revealing all about his trip in the coming weeks!
